Description The extension project to the third Barberino di Mugello - Firenze Nord lane is developed on the current A1 Milan - Naples motorway and is part of the project to upgrade the motorway between Sasso Marconi and Incisa Valdarno, constituting the initial Apennine section on the Florence side, the most complex to be to create for the morphology and environmental characteristics of the territory crossed.
The extension of the motorway in the section considered involves the construction of a single tunnel of 7.7 km called "Santa Lucia" which will be functional to guarantee a one-way flow to the motorway section examined.
The excavation is carried out with an earth counterpressure Tunnel Boring Machine with a diameter of 15,935 m: the largest cutter made for a European project.
FIP MEC has supplied the anchoed gasket type T184A, the largest anchored profile produced in Italy, which has successfully passed the pre-qualification tests, the performance in prefabrication and in tunnel, obtaining a worldwide reference.
